The Future of Aquatic Therapy Has Arrived.

PCHS Utilizes Underwater Treadmill to Help Patients Heal Faster in a Pain-free, Safe Environment.

Phillips County Health Systems’ (PCHS) Rehabilitation Department has expanded to offer the most advanced aquatic therapy to their patients to safely accelerate rehabilitation with less pain for individuals with a variety of conditions – from physical therapy patients to athletes.

Aquatic therapy is versatile and benefits a wide range of patients. By installing a HydroWorx EVO aquatic therapy system, PCHS has been able to bring state-of-the-art technology right here in Phillipsburg, Kansas. This revolutionary therapy pool can provide truly amazing results for patients who are suffering from a wide range of diseases, injuries, and conditions including:

  • Orthopedic conditions including fractures, joint replacement, amputations, and soft tissue injuries

  • Neurological conditions

  • Chronic pain conditions, joint pain, and back injuries

  • Atrophy

  • Arthritis

  • Diabetes

  • Geriatrics

  • Fibromyalgia

PCHS’ aquatic therapy offers an underwater treadmill, adjustable water resistance jets, massage jets, and variable water depths. Aquatic therapy helps patients and athletes start rehabilitation much sooner because water provides a non-weight bearing environment. The HydroWorx EVO has many distinct features that set it apart from standard therapy pools.

  • Integrated water treadmill surface that features a cushioned, low-impact design with excellent traction

  • Variable water depth to challenge athletes or progress patients from water to land

  • Resistance jets essential for deep tissue massage, water therapy, rehabilitation, or sports performance training

HydroWorx’s patented underwater treadmill is integrated seamlessly into the pool floor and is revolutionizing rehabilitation, conditioning, and recovery. By taking advantage of the body’s buoyancy in water, a HydroWorx pool will eliminate from 20% to 90% of an individual’s body weight. This, in conjunction with therapeutic warm water, allows for substantially decreased joint compression and pain.

“We are excited to be able to bring this needed therapeutic service and emerging technology to our community,” said Tara Overmiller, Chief Strategy Officer. “This compact unit is the result of technology finally catching up to the space constraints of smaller facilities and we are excited to be one of the very first to utilize this new model of aquatic therapy.”
